Let’s Work Together
Hello and Welcome to Loch Haven Woodworks!
My name is Nick Cole and I have had a passion for woodwork since I was five years old. As a kid, I would stack pieces of wood together, making model ships as I watched them pass up and down the St. Lawrence Seaway. My passion was kindled and fostered by one of my greatest role models, Mark Murtagh. Mark spent countless hours with me in his woodshop making wooden pieces of ships and showing me how to put them together.
After graduating from high school, I spent a decade in the U.S. Coast Guard. During my time in service, I continued to pursue woodworking as a side-passion, shifting to custom furniture, keepsake boxes, and wooden toys. Moving from unit to unit with the Coast Guard allowed me to experience many different styles and types of wood and furniture making — from Maine to Alaska, Alaska to Hawaii, Hawaii to Montana, Montana to Florida. In 2022, I finished my career in the Coast Guard and began woodworking full time.
Creating custom woodwork in unique areas of our amazing country (mountainous and tropical) has allowed me to experience a wide array of styles. I love for my work to tell stories and be meaningful for those whose projects I complete.
Please reach out with any project inquiries! I would love to help bring your vision to life!
Knowing The Process
I have been fortunate to know and experience woodwork in many forms. From felling and milling to fabricating and finishing. I have such a respect and joy in all of these forms of woodwork. These experiences have provided me a deep knowledge of the movement, figure, and the story of such a beautiful natural resource. I love to use wood as a vessel to tell a story.
